The Supreme Council adopted in the first reading the draft of “Development of the drinking water supply system for villages and towns of the PMR for 2024-2028” state target program, developed by the Ministry of Economic Development taking into account the recommendations of the Government, proposals of heads of state administrations and appeals from people. The program included over 30 settlements in five regions of the republic. For example, it will be laid along the street in those settlements where there is no water supply network. The consumer will need to connect to the network, explained Minister of Economic Development Sergei Obolonik, answering questions from deputies. It is planned to provide centralized water supply to more than 12.5 thousand water consumers in villages within 5 years of the program.

In addition, water supply systems will be repaired or new ones will be installed as part of the state program. Since they are worn out or the service life of artesian wells has expired, the supplied water does not meet sanitary rules and quality standards in some settlements. For example, the village of Parkany had a problem with water quality several years. It is planned according to the state program to supply water to villagers from Tiraspol.

Deputies of the Supreme Council, emphasizing the need for a state target drinking water supply program in the republic, noted that it could include not only villages and towns, but also cities. The Chairman of the Committee on Agro-Industrial Complex, Transport, Construction and Natural Resources Oleg Leontyev proposed renaming the state program for the second reading, indicating in the title the development of the drinking water supply system in the the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

Parliamentarians will discuss the allocation of funding for the first year of implementation of the state program together with the Government after the draft state program is adopted in final reading.
