Deputies discussed in the course of the plenary meeting a law-in-draft on introducing amendments to the Labor Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. New measures propose to provide a preferential right to remain at work in case of layoffs for employees who have less than 2 years left until retirement. We are talking about retirement by age, including pensions on preferential terms and in connection with special working conditions. The law-in-draft was developed by deputies Galina Antyufeyeva, Grigory Dyachenko and Oleg Petrik.
According to the law, the following socially vulnerable categories of citizens have an advantage now in remaining at work during layoffs with equal labor productivity and qualifications:
– employees with two or more dependents;
– workers in whose family there are no other workers with independent earnings;
– employees who received a work injury or occupational disease during work;
– participants in combat operations in the PMR;
– employees who improve their skills at the direction of the employer without interruption from work;
– workers who suffered as a result of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant or who took part in its liquidation;
– disabled people.
The Supreme Council supported the amendments to the Labor Code in the first reading by a majority vote. Work on the law-in-draft will continue in the second reading. As explained in the Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare, it is planned to clarify by the second reading the concept of “pre-retirement age” and determine how the mechanism for providing benefits in cases of early retirement will work. The comments made by representatives of the deputy corps during the discussion of the law-in-draft in the course of the plenary session will be taken into account.
