The 30th anniversary of the memorial house museum of Nikolai Dmitrievich Zelinsky (1861-1953), an outstanding countryman, Russian and Soviet organic chemist, one of the founders of organic catalysis and petrochemistry, inventor of a gas mask, Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1929), Hero of Socialist Labor (1945), laureate of the Lenin and Stalin Prizes was celebrated in in Tiraspol.
The museum for three decades is the pearl of the history of the city, its pride. The staff of the museum, headed by Lyudmila Kiriyak, was congratulated by representatives of the authorities and the public. The honored guest of the ceremony was the great-grandson of the scientist Alexei Plate. He regularly comes to Tiraspol and in every visit he tries to fill the exposition with archival materials that he has. This time he brought photographs of the 1930s related to the life of N.D. Zelinsky. They exist in a single copy.
Deputy chairman of the Supreme Council, the leader of “The Obnovlenie” (Renewal) Galina Antyufeeva, speaking at the celebration, noted that the museum is rightfully the center of aesthetic and patriotic education of young Tiraspol residents, the place where the foundations of love for their native city and region are laid. She thanked the staff of the museum, which works professionally, creatively, tirelessly looking for new forms of work.
The Zelinsky Memorial House Museum was opened in October 1987 in a one-story house on the high bank of the Dniester, where the future scientist was born and spent his childhood. The museum, consisting of four rooms, reproduces the situation of the Zelinsky House, tells about the childhood of the scientist in Tiraspol, about his life after moving to Odessa, about his studies and scientific activities in Germany, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Here are materials that tell about social and scientific work in the Soviet era. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to students of N.D. Zelinsky, who continued his work. In 2013, the grandson of the scientist Felix Zelinsky-Plate gave the museum a part of the family archive. The exhibits of the museum were then enriched with two graphic paintings, one of which was written by the daughter of Nikolai Zelinsky - Raisa Zelinskaya-Plate, family photos, correspondence of the scientist with the students, other valuable things.
