There was a rule of law, which obliged, when installing a water meter, to conclude a subscription service agreement with a specialized organization in our republic several years. Accordingly, the person who entered into this contract paid a monthly subscription fee. Many users of water meters did not like this situation. According to their calculations, it is cheaper to pay a plumber to remove the meter once every five years and turn it over on your own than paying a monthly fee.
The law-in-draft has been under consideration by the Supreme Council for a long time. The Government insisted that the current norm of the law cannot be changed. The main argument is that metering devices should be removed and installed by a trained specialist. In addition, there continues to be a problem related to the fact that until now 20% of our population do not have water consumption meters. They pay according to the social norm of the number of people registered in an apartment or house. However, this does not always correspond to the actual number of people using water.
The deputy corps adopted the law-in-draft with amendments to the law "On drinking water supply in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic" in the final reading. The document has been sent for signature to President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
