The Volunteer Territorial Guard

A meeting dedicated to the 24th anniversary of the People's Territorial Guard was held at the capital Memorial of Glory. Chairman of the Supreme Council Vadim Krasnoselsky, vice-speaker Alexander Shcherba, the head of the parliamentary Committee on Public Associations, Sports, Information and Youth Policy, Igor Buga, representatives of the government, municipal authorities, veterans' organizations and the public participated in it.

Decree of the President PMR on the establishment of the People's Territorial Guard dated March 17, 1992. When the Fatherland was very difficult, voluntary people were in the ranks of the defenders of the republic, young and old: the youngest was 17 years old militiaman, the most experienced - far beyond 70. The militia fought in various areas of contact with the armed nationalists from Moldova, 387 of them gave their lives on the field of battle, 45 people were awarded the Order "For personal courage", and the very Volunteer Territorial Guard PMR - the highest state award, the Order of the Republic.

The speech of the first president of PMR Igor Smirnov was received with applause. He addressed participants of the Volunteer Territorial Guard words of gratitude for won peace.
