Representatives of the republic’s law enforcement agencies become participants in a military sports festival annually, in any weather, on February 23, on the Day of Defender of the Fatherland, at the stadium in Tiraspol. Today’s event was opened with the raising of Pridnestrovian and Russian flags to the sounds of national anthems. After that, the guard of honor, students of the Tiraspol Suvorov Military School and the Republican Cadet Corps, units of the Operational Group of Russian Forces, as well as the Ministry of Defense, Interior, State Security and the Ministry of Justice, participating in the holiday for the second year, marched in a solemn march. Defenders of the Fatherland welcomed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky. The head of state congratulated the servicemen on February 23.

The Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, the First President Igor Smirnov, the heads of ministries and departments of the republic, the citizens of Tiraspol and the guests of the capital came to evaluate the skills and support of representatives of the law enforcement agencies who demonstrated their skills.

Chairman of the Supreme Council on the occasion of Defender of the Fatherland Day sent congratulations to the servicemen and veterans of the Pridnestrovian Armed Forces.

The servicemen demonstrated impeccable possession of weapons, hand-to-hand fighting techniques, throwing grenades, and skills to perform special operations. The tug of war and the paramilitary relay were included to the competition program.

The best skills were demonstrated by representatives of the Ministries of the Interior and Defense. For example, their results were 80 and 78 meters in the competition for throwing grenades at a distance. By dragging the rope, the first place was won by the military of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the second - by the Ministry of Defense.

Coordinated skill was shown by servicemen of the company of the guard of honor. Spectacular demonstration performances of young pupils of Suvorov Military School and cadets - pupils of the Republican cadet boarding school named after F. Dzerzhinsky, as well as representatives of the power ministries and the Russian military were accompanied by stormy applause from the audience. The guests of the holiday saw the performances. The servicemen jointly sang the army song “My Army”.

Summing up the event, the Commander-in-Chief of the Pridnestrovian Armed Forces Vadim Krasnoselsky noted a high level of training, expressed gratitude to all participants of the military-sports festival and presented certificates and memorable gifts to team representatives, and the cup to the winner.
