To preserve historical memory

18.12.2024

Preserving the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for the Motherland is a tribute to those who defended our land. So that the memory of our defenders is not forgotten, it is important not only to preserve historical facts in archives, but also to ensure access to this information for every citizen, generation after generation.

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic adopted in the second final reading today amendments to the law of the PMR "On perpetuating the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland", which became a step towards achieving this goal.

The law provides for the creation of an electronic "Book of Memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland". This is a single database that will contain information about the fallen heroes, as well as information about their burial places. Such a database will be available to every citizen, providing broad access to the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland.

The changes made to the law-in-draft clarify the procedure for creating this resource. In particular, the term "state information system" was replaced with a more precise definition - "electronic Book of Memory". All information will be posted on a separate website, which will provide convenient and open access to this data. As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the creation of the site "Electronic Book of Memory" is being handled by the Ministry of Defense together with the Ministry of Digital Development and the State Unitary Enterprise "Center for Information Technologies".

The creation of the project "Electronic Book of Memory" is timed to coincide with important anniversaries: the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

Changes to the law "On perpetuating the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland" will come into force 60 days after the official publication.
