By tradition, on the eve of the plenary session of the Supreme Council, the most controversial issues on the agenda were discussed by members of “The Obnovlenie” (Renewal) parliamentary faction. Work began with the solution of personnel issues. On February 6, the deputy corps elected a new head of the legislature — Alexander Korshunov. The very next day he wrote a statement about leaving the parliamentary faction (the norms of the Regulations of the Supreme Council do not allow the speaker to be a member of the Parliament). In addition, before being elected to the post of Chairman of the Supreme Council, Alexander Korshunov was the deputy chairman of the faction.
Members of the faction during the meeting for this post unanimously elected parliamentarian, deputy chairman of “The Obnovlenie” Republican political party Sergey Cheban. The head of the faction Peter Pasat described his candidacy as “an experienced parliamentarian who for many years headed one of the leading committees of the Supreme Council on social policy”. Vadim Kravchuk was also unanimously elected to the Presidium of the faction.
During the meeting of the parliamentary faction the government was asked to supplement with its own proposals the draft plan of the legislative work of the legislative body for the current year.
The subject of discussion was the legislative initiative of the President, sent to parliament in the mode of legislative necessity. We are talking about the remuneration of workers in some specialties of the public sector, who are paid extra to the minimum wage.
Members of the faction once again discussed the possibility of including a draft law on the agenda of the plenary meeting, which implies compulsory certification of cable products imported into the republic. The authors of the law-in-draft are Victor Guzun and Vadim Doni. At the same time, their colleague in the parliamentary committee on the development of entrepreneurship and industry Vadim Levitsky, who strongly opposes the adoption of this law-in-draft has a completely different opinion regarding this legislative initiative.
Faction colleagues will recommend the authors of the law-in-draft to withdraw it.
