Criminal liability is being introduced in Pridnestrovie for the public dissemination of information expressing clear disrespect for society about the days of military glory and memorable dates of the USSR and PMR associated with the defense of the Fatherland, as well as desecration of the symbols of military glory of the USSR and PMR, insult to the memory of defenders of the Fatherland or humiliation of honor and dignity of veterans of the Great Patriotic War. This applies to public speaking in the media or on the Internet. The deputies of the Supreme Council adopted the corresponding amendments to the Criminal Code today in the final reading. They were initiated by the deputies of the Legislation Committee Galina Antyufeyeva, Valery Babchinetskiy, Oleg Petrik and Stepan Stepanov.
According to the authors of the initiative, the new norm is aimed at preventing the facts of insulting the memory of the defenders of Pridnestrovie and veterans of the Great Patriotic War. It will become an additional measure to protect their honor and dignity, and in general is aimed at preserving the historical truth.
Punishments in the form of fines and correctional labor are provided depending on the article and the severity of the crime committed. The adopted amendments and additions to the Criminal Code were sent for signature to the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
