The Generations Dialogue

10.03.2023

The main goal of the meeting of the deputies of the Youth Parliament with the members of the Consultative Assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies is to learn about the history of the creation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic first hand. The initiative was shown by young parliamentarians who wanted to learn from the founders of the republic what is necessary for successful executive and legislative work.

The deputy of the Supreme Council of the 1st-4th convocations Vladimir Rylyakov told the young parliamentarians in detail about the events of the late 1980s that preceded the proclamation of the republic. The deputies of the Youth Parliament learned a lot about the difficulties faced by the founders of the republic and what the first deputies relied on when making important state decisions, without having any experience in governing the state.

Deputy of the Supreme Council of the 1st convocation, Chairman of the PMR Arbitration Court in 1991-2011 Ilya Milman devoted his speech to the formation of the legal framework of the young state. The Supreme Council in the first years of the existence of Pridnestrovie performed the functions of not only legislative, but also partly executive power. It was necessary to create a system of state authorities from scratch. The Republic has come a long way to its own Constitution of 1995, which is the foundation of Pridnestrovian statehood.

Deputy of the Supreme Council of the 1st convocation, Chairman of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank in 1992-1995 Vyacheslav Zagryadsky told the deputies of the Youth Parliament about the economic aspects of the creation of Pridnestrovie. According to the veteran of parliamentarianism, the state cannot function without the economy. Therefore, one of the priorities was the creation of its own banking and financial system in the first years of the existence of the young republic.

The meeting of young parliamentarians with members of the Consultative Assembly was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council Galina Antyufeeva. She noted the importance of such meetings for both sides of the dialogue.

Both veterans of parliamentarism and young parliamentarians were satisfied with the conversation. The results of the meeting were summed up by the Chairman of the Youth Parliament of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Roman Efodiev.

According to the deputies of the Youth Parliament, this meeting is only the first of those planned. Young parliamentarians have a list of topics that they would like to discuss with the older generation.
