Dialogue of deputies of the city of Bendery with the PMR President

16.03.2023

Deputies of the Supreme Council and the Bendery City Council met with the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky. The deputies in the course of direct dialogue with the President received answers to topical questions and support for a number of projects. Deputies of the City Council prepared a list of the most burning issues for the meeting with the President. They concern the life and development of the city of Bendery. There were 8 of them, but all of them required decision on financing and a wide discussion at a high level: licensing of enterprises involved in the production and laying of paving slabs, support for internal and external investors, development of small businesses, difficulties in allocating land plots for the construction of production facilities. The repair of storm sewers along Industrialnaya Street.

The city budget cannot handle this expensive project on its own, so the deputies asked the President for help. Vadim Krasnoselsky confirmed that he is aware of this problem and considers it appropriate to share the financial costs equally – 50% will be allocated by the state and 50% by the local budget. The Head of the Bendery City Council emphasized, the deputies and the state administration should jointly determine budgetary funds to start co-financing the project.

Another important issue for the residents of Bendery is the lack of opportunities to organize children's holidays in the summer. There used to be 2 children's camps in the city – "Lira" and "Youth". The territory of the camp "Lira", this is in district number 3 "Borisovsky", has been abandoned for many years. The last time the children rested in "Lira" was back in 2005. The institution does not work and is very dilapidated as a children's health camp since then. There are objects of cultural heritage, among them the summer residence of the doctor Flemmer. A party conference of communists took place in this building, which decided on an armed uprising in Bendery on May 4, 1919. This year, according to the state program for the preservation of historical objects, the roof of the dacha should be repaired. The question is, what to do with the territory of Lyra. Various options were proposed – to organize a home for elderly people there, a boarding school for disabled children, facilities for tourists. There is no solution so far. Several new options were proposed by the deputy of the City Council Olga Bogatu in the course of the meeting with the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. She has been dealing with a topic that is painful for the residents of Borisovka for many years.

Another health and sports camp "Youth" of Bendery has not accepted children since 2019. There was up to 400 schoolchildren per shift rested there, then – 240. Large investments are needed to make the camp comfortable. The city is asking for help. The President emphasized the social significance of the facility, noting that the entire infrastructure requires almost complete renovation.

The deputies of the Supreme Council have more global issues, requiring, among other things, legislative decisions. Deputy of constituency No. 3 Oleg Petrik  receives appeals from kindergarten teacher assistants. Complaints relate to the reduction of wages, although all employees in the field of education were provided with an increase in the level of wages according to the law since January 1. The salary was raised, but all additional payments were eventually removed. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic emphasized that he is aware of the problem and he has already given the necessary instructions to the Government, it is important to resolve it. The deputies of the Supreme Council raised issues of economic security of the state, provision of natural gas and other topics important for the republic, including the development of a tourist destination.

Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the leadership of the republic is interested in the development and capitalization of settlements, including the city of Bendery. This city with a rich history should be of interest not only to foreign tourists. It is important to create comfortable conditions for the life of the people of Bendery themselves.
