The Supreme Council supported the law-in-draft of a group of deputies aimed at increasing the term for paying pensions by proxy from 3 months to 1 year in the first reading. The initiative was prepared on the basis of requests from people. There are cases when recipients of pensions who are seriously ill or undergo long-term treatment in hospitals or are outside the republic, including students receiving a survivor's pension, cannot personally apply for a pension after 3 months.
The restrictive norm up to 3 months was previously introduced due to the fact that there were examples when money was paid according to Power of Attorney in practice, although the pensioner died. The return is possible only in court.
Changes to extend the validity of the Power of Attorney up to 1 year are being introduced into the law "On State Pension Provision of Citizens in the PMR". The control mechanism will be determined by the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor. Work on the law-in-draft will continue in preparation for the second reading.
