An unusual history lesson was taught by activists of the public movement “Heirs of Victory,” whose mentor and leader is Deputy of the Supreme Council, Head of the Committee on Education, Public Associations and Media Igor Buga. Pupils from several metropolitan schools were shown the very weapons that were used to fight on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, told about its technical characteristics and how and by whom it was invented.
The history lesson at the capital's school No. 11 on the eve of Victory Day turned out to be unusual. There are two classes at once at desks in one classroom – fifth and ninth, and two teachers at the blackboard. The students were treated to excerpts from the march “Farewell of the Slavic Woman” and a kind of anthem of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War – the song “Holy War”. There are very few veterans left in Pridnestrovie 79 years after the Victory. Health and almost a century old respectable age no longer allow to come to children’s schools and talk about what they experienced. Therefore, weapons speak at this class hour instead of veterans. Activists from the “Heirs of Victory” public organization brought machine guns, pistols and grenades, which were once found and neutralized by search engines on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War. The schoolchildren were told not only about the Soviet weapons that the Red Army had, but about those with which Nazi Germany fought and how the weapons of both sides changed during hostilities.
Makarov pistol, parabellum, PPSh, TNT blocks and anti-tank with anti-personnel grenades. All these exhibits are safe and can long ago become museum exhibits, but this lesson is unusual. Therefore, the boys and girls approach the weapon after the introductory words. You can pick it up, be sure to take a photo, ask questions and share your impressions.
These weapons actually saw action in battles. Corrosion on metal is real, Rodion Romanov reminds high school students at another metropolitan school. Weapons were placed on several tables in the gym at school No. 18.
Activists from “Heirs of Victory” show how to cock the trigger, how to hold a machine gun correctly and how to better aim a pistol. They show how to avoid danger if a shell from the Great Patriotic War ends up in your grandmother’s garden or is found on a hike near a washed-out river bank. Fifth graders carefully record all answers. Not only in your own memory, but also in your phone memory. They are interested in taking pictures with pistols and bayonet knives, but it is more important to look at everything and learn something new. After all, the boys are still interested in military history even after 79 years.
The “Heirs of Victory” public organization has existed in Pridnestrovie for more than 10 years. They are known to many as organizers of military-historical reconstructions and volunteers. They will be able to take part in such exhibitions and tell the next generation of boys and girls about the history of their country when today's fifth-graders grow up a little.
