The Deputy Inquiry

07.09.2016

Parliamentarians voted for the direction to the Minister of Justice deputy's Inquiry with respect on what grounds citizens convicted on serious criminal charges are exempt from further punishment. It is about Gregory Rosca, who since 2014 serving a sentence in a penal colony for the murder with aggravating circumstances, and sale of drugs, as well as about Vitaly Eremenko, who in the same year was sentenced to 12 years according to several Art., including fraud, misappropriation, embezzlement, forgery, illegal business.

Current legislation allows for parole only after serving convicted of at least two-thirds of a sentence for a particularly serious crime. In addition, the grounds for exemption are declared by the Supreme Council of amnesty and pardon, which the president can realize in relation to a specific person. Taking into account that both persons were brought to justice in 2014, there is no two-thirds of the term, the deputy Sergey Khankevich considers it necessary to find out on what grounds they are free.

According to him, the official website of the head of state contains information about the 14 pardoned without specifying names. Perhaps among them.

According to the decision of the Supreme Council the inquiry was sent to the addressee. The Minister of Justice will have to give an answer within a week - to the next plenary.
