06.04.2023

The parliamentarians of Pridnestrovie and Russia held a joint round table, at which they outlined the challenges of the time, which are important to resolve in order to maintain peace and stability on both banks of the Dniester. The work was attended by Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Farit Mukhametshin, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, and Sergei Kolbin, member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security. Pridnestrovian deputies and Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev contacted Moscow via video link.

The issues of regional security have again become dominant on the agenda of world politics, Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov noted in his speech. This also applies to Pridnestrovie now. Deputy of the Commission for Foreign Policy and International Relations Andrey Safonov drew the Russian colleagues’ attention that the leadership of Moldova has set the task of withdrawing from the CIS and joining NATO. The ban on Russian TV channels, active militarization, the law on “separatism”, proposals to withdraw from the peace agreement and the unwillingness of political representatives and the leadership of Moldova to meet with Pridnestrovian colleagues – all this indicates Moldova's unwillingness to assume obligations in the face of possible new aggravations in relations.

The Deputy of the Commission on Foreign Policy of the Supreme Council of the PMR noted that the situation still tends to worsen unequivocally. The way out of this situation is the development of cooperation between Russia and Pridnestrovie directly in absolutely all areas and spheres.

The Head of the Commission on Foreign Policy and International Relations, Vice Speaker Galina Antyufeeva spoke about the importance of resuming Russian humanitarian projects in Pridnestrovie in her speech.
