A rally took place in Tiraspol against the actions of the Republic of Moldova towards Pridnestrovie. Residents of all cities and regions of the republic marched along the central street of Tiraspol from the Pridnestrovian State Theater of Drama and Comedy named after Nadezhda Aronetskaya to Suvorov Square. Deputies of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic did not stand aside either.
“Moldova says that Pridnestrovian enterprises must work within the legal framework of the Republic of Moldova, forgetting that the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic fulfills all social obligations at the expense of funds from the budget of Pridnestrovie. These include benefits, salaries for public sector employees, and treatment abroad. All money coming into the budget of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic are taxes from our enterprises, our entrepreneurs, our citizens. The additional tax burden on the part of the Republic of Moldova causes us great concern,” said Speaker of the Pridnestrovian Parliament Alexander Korshunov.
The Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic emphasized that the additional tax burden on Pridnestrovian economic agents will affect all citizens of Pridnestrovie.
“It was decided at the rally to appeal to the leadership of the Republic of Moldova, the participants of the “5+2” format in order to convey the position of our people in connection with the adoption of such strange, rash decisions. More than 200 agreements have been signed since 1997 on the free economic activity of enterprises, on the freedoms and rights of Pridnestrovian citizens, and on the mutual recognition of documents. All these agreements should work. I would like to wish the Republic of Moldova to become a free, democratic, rule-of-law state, to comply with both the internal legislation of the Republic of Moldova and international law,” noted Alexander Korshunov.
Deputy Oleg Vasilaty spoke about how the actions of the Republic of Moldova affect the Pridnestrovian economy.
“Enterprises pay their employees salaries. The budget allocates salaries to public sector employees, implements social programs – payment of pensions and benefits, payment of scholarships, maintenance of the healthcare and education sectors. We live not very richly to put it mildly. Every penny for Pridnestrovian enterprises, for the Pridnestrovian budget is a serious resource. A piece of bread that our people earned with their own hands is being confiscated. They got into the pocket of almost every Pridnestrovian,” the parliamentarian emphasized.
Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, political scientist Andrei Safonov noted that a nationwide rally can and should attract the attention of the world community to the situation in Pridnestrovie.
Deputy of the Supreme Council, member of the executive committee of the public organization “Union of Defenders of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic of the city of Rybnitsa and Rybnitsa district” Vadim Kravchuk agreed with the opinion of his colleague.
Approximately 50 thousand people took part in the rally, according to preliminary data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
