Deputies of the first convocations of the Supreme Council discussed the international situation of Pridnestrovie

15.12.2022

“On the international situation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Negotiation process with Moldova”. This was the proposed topic of the meeting of the Consultative Assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies under the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev answered the questions of interest. The meeting was attended by the Supreme Council Chairman Alexander Korshunov and the Government Chairman Alexander Rosenberg.

The Foreign Minister noted that the political situation in the region had changed a lot since February 24, 2022. The problems that Pridnestrovie faced for many years and tried to resolve them at the level of negotiations have multiplied.

The 5 + 2 negotiation format has not been working since 2019, although representatives participate on the international platform and even within the framework of the working group. So far, the problems are not resolved and there are more and more of them. The crisis situation – undersupply of gas, non-signing of an agreement for the supply of electricity to Moldova, and as the scale of large enterprises increases, reduction and large-scale savings in electricity, gas and heat is an example. The first deputies asked about this situation and the prospects for its repetition.

The work of the Russian consulates in Tiraspol and problems with electronic registration for the renewal of a foreign passport and for obtaining citizenship are among the first and most discussed topics. The Foreign Minister confirmed that Tiraspol offers solutions and is in constant dialogue with Russia on this issue. The staff of the consular post has been increased. The Head of the Consultative Assembly, the First President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Igor Smirnov asked if there is any data on what damage Moldova has inflicted on Pridnestrovie over all 32 years of political and economic pressure. There is no exact figure yet, representatives of the executive branch replied. Another of the questions raised was about the decisions taken by state authorities on all emerging problems. The Speaker of the Parliament answered briefly but succinctly.

The deliberative assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies will prepare a resolution of the meeting.
