Day of the Russian military peacekeeper

26.11.2021

Thematic photo exhibition dedicated to Russian military peacekeepers was opened in the Bendery Fortress. The opening of the exhibition was attended by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of public organizations.

December 25 was established as the Day of the Russian military peacekeeper in Russia a few years ago. The holiday is dedicated to military personnel who carry out a peacekeeping mission in different countries. This day for Pridnestrovie is also important and relevant – the Russian peacekeeping mission has been in our republic for almost 30 years. A thematic photo exhibition about those who keep the peace opened in the exhibition hall of the Bendery Fortress. It was prepared by Rossotrudnichestvo and the Sputnik news agency.

27 photographs are presented at the exhibition totally. The earliest photographs are from the early 90s. This is Pridnestrovie in the summer of 1992, and Yugoslavia a year later. There are also more recent shots: the military confrontation in South Ossetia and Abkhazia in the middle of the 2000s. The freshest are photos from Nagorno-Karabakh2020.

The choice of the location for the exhibition in Pridnestrovie is not accidental. Modern reportage photographs are adjacent to the permanent exposition of the exhibition hall of Bendery Park, which is a timeline: the life-size figures of Russian soldiers who in different epochs stood guard over the world on the banks of the Dniester in different epochs - from the soldier of Catherine's times and ending with today's peacemaker.
