Day of Russia in Pridnestrovie

The "Renewal" Republican Party held a festive mass event in the capital on the Day of Russia. Chairman of the “Renewal” Republican Party, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Galina Antyufeeva took part in it. Representatives of the Renewal party together with the youth wing, to the sound of the Russian anthem, unfurled a huge Russian flag at the foot of the main symbol of the capital, the monument to Alexander Suvorov. They handed out ribbons in the colors of the Russian flag to the townspeople in the center of the capital, and children were treated to ice cream on the occasion of the holiday then.

The life of many Pridnestrovians is closely connected with Russia – relatives live or study there, someone was born or worked there. Tiraspol residents accepted ribbons in the colors of the Russian tricolor and thanked Russia for the social and cultural projects that are taking place in Pridnestrovie with the support of Moscow as well as for economic support and for the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester.

The Day of Russia is celebrated every year in our republic. According to the results of the referendum on September 17, 2006, the majority of Pridnestrovians, and this is 97%, supported the course for the independence of our republic and subsequent accession to the Russian Federation. More than 200 thousand Pridnestrovians have Russian citizenship. Russian symbols are an integral part of the life of the republic.

On June 12, concerts in honor of the Day of Russia were held throughout the republic. The “City of Masters” worked all day, the state ensemble of dance and folk music “Viorica” performed on the stage in the capital, in the Catherine Park. The Park of Alexander Nevsky became the center of the holiday in Bendery. The municipal brass band performed there, style games and master classes were held. There was a film screening at the end of the day. The film screening about Russian knights and the confrontation with the troops of Batu Khan "The Legend of Kolovrat" was shown at the end of the day. A concert of local creative groups took place in Slobodzeya. The local art school received a certificate for office equipment from the Union of Russian Communities of Pridnestrovie and Rossotrudnichestvo for the half-century anniversary.

Activists of the youth wing of the regional branch of the Renewal party handed out more than 100 ribbons in the colors of the Russian flag in Dubossary. The regional authorities, as in Rybnitsa and in all other cities and regions of Pridnestrovie, organized a festive concert.

June 12 is a public holiday in the Russian Federation. The Declaration on the State Sovereignty of Russia was adopted at the First Congress of People's Deputies of the RSFSR on this day in 1990.
