The official celebrations on the occasion of the 232nd anniversary of the founding of the city of Tiraspol traditionally began at the capital's Memorial of Glory. The President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov, the Chairman of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Rosenberg, the city leadership, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of public organizations and caring residents of the capital honored the memory of the heroes who defended the city in different years. Fresh flowers were laid at the Eternal Flame and at the granite slabs with the names of the fallen.

According to tradition, flowers were laid at the monuments to the founders of the city on Tiraspol's birthday. A scattering of red carnations at the monument to the Great Empress Catherine II is a recognition of the enormous role of the Russian autocrat in the fate of the Pridnestrovian lands. It was during her reign that the left bank of Pridnestrovie became part of the Russian Empire. The southern part of modern Pridnestrovie, which had long been under Turkish rule, was ceded to Russia under the terms of the Treaty of Iasi, concluded on January 9, 1792. The northern part of Pridnestrovie became part of the Russian Empire a year later, on January 23, 1793, after the Second Partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It was time to develop the new territories after the left bank of the Dniester became part of the Russian Empire. Catherine II realizing the strategic importance of the acquired lands signed a decree on the construction of the Sredinnaya fortress in 1792, around which the city of Tiraspol later grew, the future capital of Pridnestrovie. Alexander Suvorov inspected the progress of construction work. The fortress was personally founded by the great Russian commander on June 22, 1793. A 9-meter bronze monument in memory of the founder of the city was opened in the very center of the capital in 1979. The top officials of the state laid flowers at the monument to the great Russian commander today. They honored the memory of the first architect of Tiraspol, the engineer of the Russian army Franz de Volan. It was he who designed the Sredinnaya fortress, the first quarters of Tiraspol and left behind a detailed topographic map of southern Pridnestrovie. A portrait sculpture of the outstanding military engineer was erected in Tiraspol. It is located in the Catherine Park near the monument to the Russian Empress.

A prayer service was held at the Chapel of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God near the City Palace of Culture later. It was conducted by Archbishop Sawa of Tiraspol and Dubossary. At the end of the official part of the festive events, the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke with the media.

The Chairman of the Tiraspol City Council of People's Deputies Vadim Doni congratulated the residents of Tiraspol on the City Day.

The updated appearance of the Pridnestrovian capital is noted not only by the residents of Tiraspol, but also by tourists, the head of the Tiraspol City Council emphasized.

Public festivities on the occasion of the 232nd anniversary of Tiraspol took place in the capital the day before. Residents and guests of the city were delighted by exhibitions of folk craftsmen, sports competitions and concerts filled with national flavor on Suvorov Square and in the Catherine Park from the very morning of October 13. The program of entertainment events continued until the evening. The sky over the Pridnestrovian capital was lit up by a festive fireworks display exactly at 21:00.
