The Birthday of the Republic

Pridnestrovie celebrates its main holiday – 33 years since the formation of the PMR as an independent state. The capital has traditionally become the center of festive events in the republic. The celebrations on the occasion of the country's birthday, which began on the main square of Tiraspol, were attended by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov, Chairman of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Rosenberg, parliamentarians, heads of cities and districts, representatives of ministries and departments of Pridnestrovie.

Pridnestrovian parliamentarians proclaimed the formation of the PMSSR at the II Extraordinary Congress of Deputies of all level exactly 33 years ago, on September 2, 1990. It was from this moment that the history of Pridnestrovian statehood began. Pridnestrovians celebrate their main national holiday from then until September 2.

Festive events dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the founding of Pridnestrovie are taking place today in all cities and regions. The main celebrations with the participation of top officials of the state took place in the capital. The PMR President laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame and after him the Speaker of Parliament Alexander Korshunov laid flowers at the graves and slabs with the names of the defenders of Pridnestrovie at the Memorial of Glory. The memory of the victims was honored with a minute of silence.

Flowers were laid at the graves of Pridnestrovians who defended the young state on behalf of the First President of the PMR Igor Smirnov, deputies of the Supreme Council, city and district councils, representatives of the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese, military personnel and public organizations. Deputies of the Youth Parliament took part in the ceremony. Pridnestrovie remembers its heroes.

The state flags of Pridnestrovie and Russia were raised on Suvorov Square in Tiraspol after the flower-laying ceremony. 32 years ago - September 2, 1991 - at the IV Congress of Deputies of all levels, the state flag of our republic was approved. It repeats the colors of the flag of the Moldavian SSR. The law on the use of the Russian flag in Pridnestrovie along with the PMR flag was adopted in April 2017. According to the document, the Russian flag is raised simultaneously with the Pridnestrovian flag on the buildings of the Presidential Administration, the Supreme Council, the Government and other departmental and administrative buildings. Both flags are permanently installed in the meeting room of the Supreme Council, in the Government, in courtrooms and in local authorities. The Russian flag is always raised into the sky along with the Pridnestrovian flag at ceremonial events.

The farmsteads began their work after the completion of official events in Catherine Park. The best creative groups perform in the park all day today.
