Birthday of the State University

The State University is celebrating its birthday. Pridnestrovian State University is 92. University classes were canceled. A solemn meeting was held in the cultural and leisure center named after Cyril and Methodius. Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Galina Antyufeeva came to congratulate the main university of the country on its birthday.

It is noted at the solemn meeting, that the university is already 92, but it looks much younger. There have been no major repairs for all the time, but repair work has been going on at the main university of the country within the framework of the Capital Investment Fund for the past two years. The main building and building B have already had noticeably changed. Part of the student dormitories has been renovated.

Construction is not completed. Rector Vladislav Sokolov noted that repair work at the country's main university will continue until 2028. The main task is to continue producing well-trained and in-demand specialists now who will be ready to keep up with the times, according to the Rector.

The education system including PSU has been working in the stormy conditions of the pandemic for the past three years, the Rector added. The university was faced with the fact that third-year students who had never attended university lectures came to classrooms this fall. However, the adaptation of students to the team is going well. The university worked even in difficult pandemic times.

Pridnestrovian State University is a classic university with more than 140 specialties and directions today, about 9 thousand students and about 1.5 thousand teachers and employees. A university for Pridnestrovie is a training base for the country. The university copes with this task.

The Vice-speaker of the parliament recalled that the four-volume history of Pridnestrovie was created by the scientific minds of PSU, the legislative base of the republic was also developed by those who studied and taught at the state university.

“The university today takes an active part in the socio-political life of the republic, in international integrative work in the field of education and science, and develops cooperation with foreign universities. A qualified scientific and pedagogical potential allows the university staff to take an active part in the implementation of measures to modernize higher professional education, conduct scientific and innovative activities aimed at developing new educational technologies, improving the quality of higher education that meets the current and future needs of modern society, as well as the integration of Pridnestrovie to the Russian educational, scientific and economic space,” said Chairman of the Pridnestrovian Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov in his welcoming address.

The celebration continued at the end of the official part. There were a lot of students on Monday, despite the pre-announced day off. The most important fun took place at the monument to Harry Potter, which has already become a symbol of the Pridnestrovian university.
