“On the night of August 13-14, a mechanized battalion of the Georgian army in the amount of a thousand people on 5 tanks, a helicopter, with 10 guns crossed the border of Georgia and entered the territory of Abkhazia ...” - the August morning of 1992 began for the inhabitants of Abkhazia with this emergency message. Thus began the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia.
The fraternal peoples of the North Caucasus, southern Russia, and compatriots from abroad provided significant support in the struggle for the right to live on their native land to the Abkhazians. Among the foreign volunteers who defended Abkhazia were Pridnestrovians. Two of them died – Andrey Zorin and Roman Radkovsky.
