12.09.2024

The events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the transfer of the relics of the holy noble prince Alexander Nevsky from the city of Vladimir to St. Petersburg were held in Pridnestrovie as in Russia on September 12. The leadership of the republic, together with the clergy, laid flowers at the bust of Alexander Nevsky in honor of the date in Bendery, in the Alexander Nevsky Fortress Park. Red carnations were also laid at the monument to the Grand Duke by the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov. The speaker noted in his address on the occasion of the anniversary, that Alexander Nevsky proved himself to be an intelligent politician, a subtle diplomat and a talented military leader.

Prince Alexander Nevsky defeated the Swedes in 1240, and in 1242 the Russian army under his leadership defeated the Germans in the Battle of the Ice on Lake Peipus. Alexander Yaroslavovich became famous not only as a statesman, but also as a man of deep spirituality, who supported the church, the Orthodox people and did much for their spiritual and moral enlightenment.

A Divine Liturgy was held in the Alexander Nevsky Church, led by Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa in honor of the 300th anniversary of the transfer of the relics in Bendery. The Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov took part in the festive service.

The Alexander Nevsky Church, which is located on the territory of the Bendery Fortress, was built in 1833. The church survived the 1917 revolution and the period of fascist occupation from 1941 to 1944. The building housed a soldiers' club during the Soviet years. The church was reopened in 2011 after a major reconstruction. A particle of the relics of Prince Alexander Nevsky was delivered in 2012 to the church, which is kept in the church to this day.

The believers walked in a religious procession around the church after the liturgy. This is another significant part of the Christian celebration. The believers came to glorify the saint, ask for peace and protection.

Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa addressed the Pridnestrovian believers, congratulating them on the anniversary of the transfer of the relics of Alexander Nevsky.

Archbishop Sawa received congratulations from the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the archbishop's ordination. The 300th anniversary of the transfer of the relics of the holy blessed prince Alexander Nevsky was marked by a special cancellation of a thematic envelope with a stamp. The military orchestra of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Pridnestrovie performed for the parishioners at the end of the celebration. Marches of the regiments of the times of the Russian Empire were solemnly performed.
