Dear Pridnestrovians!
39 years have passed since the whole world was shocked by the largest man-made disaster that occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
A huge release of radioactive substances into the atmosphere occurred, which caused irreparable damage to the environment and human health as a result of this accident.
1837 Pridnestrovians took part in the rescue operations – people of different professions. Servicemen of the 14th Guards Army, workers, specialists of the Moldavian State District Power Plant, and medical workers went to the scene of the accident from the first days. All of them are real heroes who without sparing their lives eliminated the consequences of the radiation disaster. Subsequently, many died from radiation sickness, cancer, and high doses of radiation.
The tragic events of April 26, 1986 once again showed how fragile our world is, how carefully and cautiously we must treat nuclear energy and the development of peaceful atoms.
Dear Pridnestrovians! We will never forget the feat and heroism of the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident. I wish all the participants in the liquidation of the accident good health, goodness, and all the best to you and your loved ones!
Chairman of the Supreme Council
of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic
