Dear Pridnestrovians
and defenders of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic!
The 1st of August is of particular importance for all Pridnestrovians. This date is the day of memory of the fallen and deceased defenders of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Thousands of Pridnestrovians stood up to defend our state in the 1990s. They served in the ranks of the guards, Cossacks and militias. The people of Pridnestrovie survived in the struggle for their independence. Thanks to the help of Russian peacekeepers, the bloodshed on the banks of the Dniester has stopped. Inconsolable grief and sadness remained over hundreds of lives of people who defended the people of Pridnestrovie, their freedom and peace.
Civilians, children, and the elderly became victims of armed actions from the day of the first provocations to the last day of the war. The grief brought by the war only rallied the inhabitants of the republic more strongly, who stood up to defend their right to live in a multinational legal democratic state. In Pridnestrovie, people have never been divided and will never be divided along national lines; all nationalities in our state have the same opportunities and rights.
I am sure that the memory of the dead will live forever in our grateful hearts. We must know and remember everything connected with the history of our republic, and carefully pass this memory on to the younger generations.
I wish all the defenders and residents of Pridnestrovie on this memorable day a peaceful sky, good health, and a happy future!
Blessed memory of the fallen heroes, glory to the living heroes!
Chairman of the Supreme Council
of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic
