Dear internationalist soldiers, veterans of the Afghan war!
On behalf of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and on my own behalf please accept sincere congratulations on the memorable date - the 33rd anniversary of the completion of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
Years have passed and will pass, but the Afghan war will always remain a heroic and tragic page of history in our memory because it was written with the blood of soldiers and tears of mothers, obelisks of glory and stars on graves.
The last column of Soviet troops left Afghanistan on February 15, 1989. This is a special day for all those who participated in the hostilities on Afghan soil, who fulfilled their military duty with honor and dignity. This memorable day tastes of bitterness. As a result of the bloody war, about 15000 Soviet servicemen died. Among the soldiers-internationalists were also our natives from Pridnestrovie, they adequately fulfilled their mission, 54 of our compatriots died a heroic death. We will forever keep in our hearts the memory of them, their courage, selflessness, loyalty and love for their Motherland.
A low bow to the fallen and the living for courage and steadfastness, fearlessness and selflessness, to those who were in battle, who, at the cost of their lives, were faithful to their country to the end. The younger generation is proud of your exploits, which serve as an example of courage and patriotism for them.
I wish you and your family and friends, for many years of health, kindness, prosperity and good mood! May the sky above your head always be peaceful!
Chairman of the Supreme Council
of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic
