The Day of Remembrance and Sorrow

19.06.2017

Dear Pridnestrovians!

Dear residents of Bendery!

Today, the entire Pridnestrovian people recall the most mournful date in the history of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic - the 25th anniversary of Bendery tragedy. June 19, 1992, the armed formations of Moldova broke into the almost unarmed Pridnestrovian city of Bendery. As a result of the bloodshed undertaken by Moldovan nationalists, about 44 thousand days of aggression in Bendery, about 1,500 people were killed and wounded; more than 80 thousand people became refugees.

The trouble came then to Pridnestrovian land, and 25 years later it does not seem less. We remember the victims by name, and our main task before the past, the present and the future, be firmly confident that this will never happen again. That is why we are grateful to the Russian Federation, which stands guard over the Piece on the Dniester, for the special role of the guarantor of security and tranquility in our state.

These terrible events have become an example of the unprecedented heroism and patriotism of our people. Today is a day of remembrance, pain and sorrow for those who will never return, who gave their lives for the freedom, dignity and independence of our land.

Eternal memory to the fallen heroes!

Peace, tranquility and prosperity for all residents of Pridnestrovie!
