From the center of Bendery, from Liberation Square to the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow, this is how mourning events dedicated to the next anniversary of the Bendery tragedy begin every year on the 19th of June. Thirty years have passed since that terrible day when Bendery became the center of hostilities. The city and the republic remember every dead person.
The Immortal Regiment marched from the square to the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow – young people with photographs of those who died in the summer of 1992, followed by the leadership of the republic and all those who remember and know about the events of 30 years ago. Everyone has ribbons in the colors of the flags of Pridnestrovie and Bendery on their chests – this is a symbol of the unity of the people and common misfortune. These tapes were handed out to passers-by in the city in the morning.
Nina Kashinyan was among those who met the procession of the Pridnestrovian Immortal Regiment already at the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow. She was a member of the Women's Strike Committee in 1992. She comes to Bendery from Dnestrovsk on the 19th of June every year.
Militiaman Sergei Savenko was among those who laid flowers today at the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow. He lived next to the building of the Moldovan police in Bendery in 1992. He knew almost immediately that the war began.
Flowers to the BMP, the crew of which died in June 1992, breaking through to help the people of Bendery, to the eternal flame, the monument to General Lebed and the plates with the names of those who died 30 years ago in Bendery were laid on behalf of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Korshunov, heads of cities and regions of Pridnestrovie, parliamentarians and ordinary citizens. This is a special date for each of them. They remember it in Russia too. The Chairman of the Supreme Council received an appeal from the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Andrey Gorokhov, who represents the interests of the people of Bendery. The parliamentarian notes in it the significance of this date.
The mourning events continued at the memorial signs of Bendery and at the Borisov cemetery, at the Alley of Heroes of the city.
