Allow fulfilling the maintenance obligations

The authors of the amendments to the Marriage and Family Code were a group of deputies of the Committee on Legislation. Parliamentarians proposed to solve the existing problem regarding the fulfillment of maintenance obligations. The reason for the development of the initiative was the numerous appeals of citizens - persons who for valid reasons cannot repay debts on alimony. The fact is that the norm giving the right to alimony to file a petition to the court for the release or reduction of the size of the debt already exists, but, as practice has shown, needs some work.

Such valid reasons may be, in particular, the illness of the alimony payer or his relatives and friends, being in prison and others. As the developers of the law-in-draft explained, the legal regulation of this issue will allow debtors to find a way to pay off their debts, and not to evade paying alimony.
