The Day of the Great Victory is celebrated in Pridnestrovie. Today, residents of the republic recall the heroic feat of Soviet soldiers, who liberated their homeland from the Nazi invaders 74 years ago. Thousands of citizens of Tiraspol and guests of the city came to the central square of the capital.

The atmosphere of the holiday in the center of the capital creates military songs. The participants of the event are people of different ages. Many of them came with portraits of relatives and friends who fought during the Great Patriotic War.

Festive events began at the capital square with the raising of a copy of the Banner of Victory. This honorary right was granted to veterans of the Great Patriotic War Vladimir Gromov and Vladimir Lebedev. The solemn ceremony was attended by the President Vadim Krasnoselsky, the First PMR President Igor Smirnov, the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, members of parliament.

The first persons of the state welcomed the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, participants in the hostilities, home front workers, widows and children of war. Military Parade continued celebrations.
