The institution of the Ombudsman for Human Rights in Pridnestrovie existed since June 2006. Then the deputy corps in this post approved Vasily Kalko. It was he who was at the beginning of the organization, re-elected to this post twice.
During the plenary session, the Speaker of the Parliament noted the significant contribution of Pridnestrovian ombudsman to the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens of the republic.
According to the decision of the leadership of the Supreme Council, Vasily Kalko was awarded with a breastplate "For contribution to the cause of Parliamentarism". In accordance with the law, the ombudsman does not exercise more than two terms. In this regard, the deputy corps considered a new candidate for this position.
The newly elected Human Rights Ombudsman in PMR took an oath of allegiance to the republic. Vyacheslav Kosinsky thanked the parliamentarians for their trust and expressed hope for further cooperation.
