The state of emergency in Pridnestrovie is extended

09.01.2025

The state of emergency in Pridnestrovie will be extended. Today, the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic held an online meeting of the Committee on Economic Policy, Budget and Finance, at which the Decree of the PMR President on the extension of the state of emergency was considered. The President Vadim Krasnoselsky proposes to extend the state of emergency for another 30 days due to the ongoing economic emergency caused by the cessation of natural gas supplies to Pridnestrovie and as a result the impossibility of providing its consumers with the necessary volume of natural gas, which creates a real threat to the life of the population and the state. A Resolution of the Supreme Council on the approval of this decree has been prepared. Deputies of the Committee on Economic Policy recommended submitting it to a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Law-in-draft on amendments to the law on support measures during the emergency economic period, which has been in effect since January 1, was also considered at the meeting of the relevant Committee. Deputies Alexander Korshunov and Viktor Guzun propose adding a new article to the law, according to which beneficiaries whose houses are heated, including by electric and gas boilers, will be given the opportunity to purchase solid fuel at a discounted price during the emergency economic period. The Committee studied this initiative on new support measures and submitted it for discussion to the parliament in two readings at once. The date of the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic was determined by the parliamentary Presidium, the meeting of which took place today. Deputies of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic will gather in the plenary hall for the 2nd Extraordinary Meeting of the VIII (autumn) session of the VII convocation tomorrow, January 10. Its agenda includes approval of the Presidential Decree on extending the emergency economic situation for 30 days and amendments to the law on support measures during the energy crisis.

Deputies will hear information from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev on the political and diplomatic efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prevent a humanitarian and economic crisis in Pridnestrovie on January 10 at the Commission of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on Foreign Policy and International Relations and will consider a draft special statement of the Supreme Council of the PMR in connection with the situation developing in the republic. The Supreme Council will adopt the document at the 2nd Extraordinary Session of Parliament tomorrow.
