In the course of the ceremony, they honored a minute of silence for the Cossacks who died in the early 90s of the last century, protecting Pridnestrovie. 23 of 90 Cossacks who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the republic came from other states. This indicates the unity of the Cossacks, a fraternity based on the ideology of the Cossacks, the President considers.
The revival of the Cossacks in Pridnestrovie took place under the acute political situation in Moldova, due to the rapid growth of Romanian-Moldavian nationalism. December 17, 1991 in Tiraspol, a constituent gathering of descendants of the Cossacks took place, which elected the organizing committee for the revival of the Cossacks in Pridnestrovie and served as the basis for the organizational unification of the already formed Cossack formations. The meeting decided to revive the Black Sea Cossack army on the land of Pridnestrovie.
Currently, there are seven divisions in the republic, and three more Pridnestrovian divisions of the Black Sea Cossack army operate in the Russian Federation and Ukraine. An agreement on cooperation with the Balkan Cossack army is being prepared.
On the initiative of the military Government of the Black Sea Cossack Army, on December 21, 2000, the Supreme Council of the PMR adopted the Law "On Cossacks in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic". The Black Sea Cossack army has stood guard for almost thirty years over the interests of the people of Pridnestrovie and Russia as a whole.
