The first meeting of “The Obnovlenie” (Renewal) parliamentary faction was unusual: the deputies did not consider the agenda of the next plenary session, they discussed the implementation of the provisions of the presidential decree declaring 2018 the Year of Equal Opportunities. The initiator of this decision was the leader of “The Obnovlenie” parliamentary faction Peter Pasat.

Vice-premier Stanislav Kasap, Minister for Social Protection and Labor Elena Kulichenko, Coordinator of the Pridnestrovian People's Forum Yuri Cheban were connected to the deputy talk about the fate and problems of people with disabilities.

Creation of equal opportunities for all citizens of Pridnestrovie is a common task. Everyone should be involved in its decision. The first step - efforts should be directed to the development of an action plan. Deadline is March 1. Obviously, there are enough problems in this sphere: providing disabled people with canes, crutches, hearing aids, prostheses, wheelchairs. In particular, 170 people are in the queue to receive the last one. Despite the tender held last year to purchase budgetary funds for this was not found. Nobody received a wheelchair in 2017.

It is also necessary to create a production base for the manufacture of prostheses in order to reduce the costs of their installation outside the republic. It is noteworthy that our Abkhaz brotherhood created this in the framework of cooperation with one of the German companies. In this respect, Pridnestrovie relies on Russia's support, as well as assistance from international charitable organizations.

The problems of Pridnestrovian people with disabilities can not be solved because of the acute shortage of budgetary funds, low level of social benefits. At the same time, the participants of the meeting of the parliamentary faction are convinced that it is necessary to rationally use available means, accurately determining the priorities of the social support provided by the state to citizens with special needs. The same principle should be extended, in their opinion, to already available sports facilities, where disabled people could engage in physical culture and sports. Members of the parliamentary faction suppose before building new specialized sports facilities, it is necessary to effectively use the existing, for example, the Republican stadium in Tiraspol.

The leadership of the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor by mutual agreement will provide the deputies of the Supreme Council with lists of people with disabilities residing in their constituencies. The disabled first group needs the first aid.

The subject of the joint discussion was also the creation of an accessible environment in the settlements of the republic. Installation various kinds of ramps is most often meant. Local authorities are responsible for this in the framework of the work on improving the entrusted to them in the management of settlements.

They talked about the medical aspects of improving the lives of people with disabilities by providing them with high-tech medical care out of the PMR, and employment.

Deputies of “The Obnovlenie” faction intend to submit their proposals to the formed plan of events for holding the Year of Equal Opportunities in Pridnestrovie.
