Volunteers – these words have been spoken as often as "coronavirus", "quarantine" and "pandemic" since last spring. The year 2020 passed in Pridnestrovie under the sign of COVID-19 as well as throughout the world. Volunteers for everyone became an example of philanthropy, kindness and readiness to help at any moment. These two nominations of the state competition "Person of the Year - 2020" can be especially distinguished. The presentation of state prizes this year took place in a quarantine manner: not in the large hall of the Palace of the Republic, but pointwise, separately. The solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the nominations "Volunteer of the Year" Elena Konstantinova and Tatiana Zinovieva took place in the building of the Pridnestrovian parliament. The statuettes and honorary diplomas were presented to them by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Alexander Korshunov and Vice-Speaker Galina Antyufeyeva.
A volunteer is a person who carries out useful activities for the benefit of society free of charge. Volunteer organizations united including with the militia to help elderly Pridnestrovians and those who are quarantined or sick during the pandemic. Volunteers regardless of age help at the call of their hearts and minds, devote personal time using their experience, skills and abilities. Tatyana Zinovyeva is a volunteer at the Headquarters of the Obnovlenie (Renewal party) “We are near”. She decided to help those who are in isolation without thinking. She and her team have been delivering medicines and food to needy Pridnestrovians in her car for almost a year now. Tatiana Zinovyeva knows that volunteering is her calling. The Volunteer of the Year nomination became special for 2020: it was established by the Republican Organizing Committee of the competition.
Volunteers in a difficult period were doctors, militiamen, special forces soldiers and teachers of the Tiraspol Law Institute. They went to work in covid hospitals from the first days of the pandemic. Volunteers come to the aid of veterans, disabled people, health workers, and those who need it especially. Elena Konstantinova - juvenile affairs inspector, works in the Slobodzeya militia. She is a paramedic by her first education, so she and her husband went to work in covid hospital in the spring when the first wave of the pandemic began. It was difficult and scary, but the desire to be useful helped me through all the difficulties.
Deputy Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council Galina Antyufeyeva, congratulating the winners of the Volunteer of the Year and Volunteer of the Year nominations, emphasized that these two nominations can be considered the main ones in the past year.
The state art and publicistic competition "Person of the Year" was held in Pridnestrovie for the 24th time. 27 people in 21 nominations became laureates. This year, at the suggestion of the PMR President, not one, but 7 winners from each city and region of the republic were presented in the "Medical Worker of the Year" nomination.
