The future of the Republican Botanical Garden

The Supreme Council deputies considered law-in-draft aimed at changing the boundaries of the Republican Botanical Garden in the course of the plenary session. Ts area is more than 20 hectares today. The entire territory belongs to the natural reserve fund. However, the author of the initiative considers that the boundaries defined in the 2000s are no longer relevant. Some plants have been lost, others have lost their protected status. The Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic has developed law-in-draft, according to which part of the territory of the botanical garden will be transferred to the Arboretum.

The territories where valuable plants are located will remain under the jurisdiction of the Republican Botanical Garden. This is a greenhouse and nursery. All the requirements of the protected area will be observed there and research work will be carried out.

The deputies supported the legislative initiative of the Government in the first reading. Work on the law-in-draft will continue.
