20.12.2016

The Supreme Council deputies laid flowers and lit candles at the point of exit of the consular service of the Russian Embassy to Moldova in memory of  killed yesterday in Turkey the diplomat Andrei Karlov.

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Turkey Andrei Karlov was killed last night in the Turkish capital Ankara. The murder took place at the opening of the photo exhibition in the Contemporary Art Centre, where the ambassador gave a speech. The assailant fired several shots at the diplomat, who later died in hospital.

Representatives of the Russian and Turkish foreign ministers, had a meeting in Moscow to discuss the Syrian conflict and made the appropriate statements condemning this terrorist act.

This is not the first murder of a diplomat in Russian history. The best known is the murder of a famous writer Alexander Griboyedov in Tehran (Persia and modern Iran) by a mob of religious zealots. It happened 187 years ago.

The parallels between the two murders were made in an interview with the chairman of the Supreme Council of Public Associations Committee, sport, information and youth policy, the chairman of the Pridnestrovian veterans associations war in Afghanistan Igor Buga.
