Fighting illegal dumps

17.05.2023

The Code of Administrative Offenses of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic will be supplemented with norms aimed at combating unauthorized dumps. The Government proposed to amend the current legislation. According to the authors of the legislative initiative, today the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic does not contain a norm providing for the onset of administrative responsibility for the discharge of garbage outside settlements or on the roadway. Offenses related to the emission of waste from vehicles that are not related to maritime, rail, freight and public transport remain outside the legal regulation.

The law-in-draft of the Government proposes to provide in the Code of Administrative Offenses liability for environmental pollution and littering in the event of unloading or dumping garbage from vehicles and trailers, as well as from walk-behind tractors outside waste disposal sites.

The deputies of the Supreme Council supported the law-in-draft on amendments and additions to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the first reading. When preparing the law-in-draft for the second reading, it will be specified what types of administrative punishment will be applied to those who commit such an offense repeatedly.
