The peacemakers are blessed

A commemorative sign to mark the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the first peacekeeping operation in the history of modern Russia that takes place on the banks of the Dniester was opened in Tiraspol, by the checkpoint of the operational group of Russian troops. The ceremony was attended by deputies of the Supreme Council Sergey Vasiliev and Igor Buga, the command of the operational group led by Colonel Dmitry Zelenkov, representatives of state authorities of the republic, members of public organizations, political parties.

Grateful residents of Tiraspol recalled the summer days of 1992. Then, thanks to the decisive actions of the command of the 14th Army of the Russian Federation led by Alexander Lebed, the bloodshed on the banks of the Dniester stopped. Peacekeeping units were formed, which included servicemen of the 59th Motorized Rifle Division of Kramatorsk, the 106th Tula Airborne Division, the combined unit of special forces "Cobra 92 - 95".

Head of operational group Dmitry Zelenkov reminded the audience of the unique experience of this peacekeeping operation. He especially thanked the veterans, who are still in the ranks, educate the youth, pass on to her an invaluable experience. Gratitude to the Russian military was expressed by the participant of the Great Patriotic War Mikhail Kislitsky, a veteran of the armed forces Valery Glazkov, as well as deputies of the Supreme Council.

A commemorative sign, made with the participation of the operational group with funds from the public organization of veterans of the peacekeeping forces, local wars and armed conflicts "Peacemaker", was consecrated by representatives of the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese. The townspeople laid flowers to it.
