Mother's Day has been celebrated on the last Sunday of November in Pridnestrovie since 2011. The decree on this was signed by the President Igor Smirnov. This holiday was introduced by analogy with Mother's Day in Russia and, as stated in the presidential decree, in accordance with Article 65 of the PMR Constitution and "in order to increase the social significance of motherhood, strengthen family values and the institution of the family".
Protection and support of motherhood and childhood is on the list of priority directions of the state policy of Pridnestrovie, including the legislative work of the deputies of the Supreme Council.
The rights of working mothers are regulated by the PMR Labor Code. Everything is spelled out in this document - from the right to conclude an employment contract to a ban on carrying weights during the working day. For example, the Labor Code prohibits employers from refusing to conclude employment contracts for women for reasons related to pregnancy or having children. The right of pregnant women, women with small children or raising a disabled child to refuse work at night, overtime work or work on weekends is also prescribed.
Regnant women and women who have already become mothers are supported by the state and are entitled to a number of social guarantees in our republic. This is the right to "maternity" leave, parental leave, maternity allowance, lump-sum allowance for the birth or adoption of a child and monthly allowance for caring for a child up to 1.5 years old. The size of a one-time birth or adoption benefit for insured citizens is 4904.4 rubles for the first child and 5504.4 rubles for the second child in 2020. The monthly allowance for caring for a child up to 1.5 years old for mothers who worked or studied in a hospital before the decree is 1067 rubles. The amounts of these payments are established by the law on the budget of the Unified Social Insurance Fund. In the VI convocation the deputies of the Supreme Council adopted the amendment. According to it, women who did not work and did not study or studied in absentia receive a monthly allowance for caring for a child until they reach the age of one and a half years in the amount of 80 minimum wage, or 776 rubles. The Supreme Council adopted amendments to the law concerning social support for women - individual entrepreneurs who are preparing to become mothers.
The state also supports large and low-income families, because this is also help, primarily to mothers. There are various benefits - for utility bills, travel in public transport, assistance with collecting for school, for meals and the priority right to summer recreation. During the pandemic, all benefit categories of families received and continue to receive food packages or monetary compensation for them instead of free meals.
It is customary to pay tribute to mothers' work, to express respect to mothers, to confess their love to them both in Pridnestrovie and in Russia on Mother's Day.
