Bendery City Council of People's Deputies is 100

Solemn meeting devoted to the century anniversary of the founding of the representative body of the city was held in Bendery. The festive event was attended by Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, the first president of Pridnestrovie, Igor Smirnov, members of the Government, deputies of councils of all levels, leaders of municipal and commercial enterprises of Bendery.

Bendery City Council was formed the first in our district. It began work March 8, 1917. It consists of delegates from the workers of the railway, shipping distance, printing plants, mills, as well as employees of the postal and telegraph offices, commercial and industrial establishments. The first decision of the City Council claimed the 8-hour working day and established a working public control at the enterprises of the city.

The Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba addressed colleagues with a congratulatory word to Bendery.

The first President of Pridnestrovie Igor Smirnov had a speech for participants of the solemn meeting.

For contribution to the development of local self-government and public activities the deputies and employees of the Bendery City Council were awarded state awards. The President of the Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky, the first president Igor Smirnov, Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, deputies of different convocations of the City Council, heads of municipal enterprises were awarded Jubilee Medal in honor of the centennial of the Bender City Council.

A new postage stamp established according to joint order of public service communications and media, the first impression that, on the advice of Igor Smirnov, in a solemn ceremony performed the youngest members and the most experienced member of the Bender City Council. So symbolically was fixed succession of generations, values that deputies follow - to defend and protect the interests of citizens.
