Alexander Shcherba, "Residents of Bendery keep the Past and look to the Future"

Bendery celebrates a birthday. This year, 609 years passed since the first chronicle mention of the city. The main events took place today in the center of Bendery, divided into small areas - Bendery Arbat, Slastena’s Lane, Karapuz Square, Cat Fontanka. Organizers have prepared many exhibitions, master classes. There were bright national courtyards in the city. Townspeople and guests of the city were told famous historical characters about rich history of Bendery - Catherine the Great, Alexander Suvorov, Grigory Potemkin, Alexander Pushkin. Among those who plunged into the unique atmosphere of the holiday, President Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba. Roman Ivanchenko, the head of the state administration of Bendery conducted an excursion to the festive courtyards for the leaders of the republic.

This year, there was a parade of wheelchairs for the first time at the city's birthday. The main condition for participation in the procession is that the child's vehicle must be designed creatively, and most importantly, as unconventional. About 20 families passed through the central street of the city. The family Bodnar city caused spectators’ ovation. Their carriage was framed in the style of a grandmother's hut, and the kids together with their mother depicted the heroes of Russian fairy tales.

By tradition, residents of Bendery and guests of the city were treated sweet pie baked specially for the birthday of the city. This year, the length of the pie was 609 centimeters - this is exactly what Bendery was celebrating this year.

This festive day, all the willing could appreciate the efforts of the Bender culinary specialists. They tried the birthday cake and the leaders of the republic.

Festive festivities will last today all day. Closer to the night the sky over Bendery will be lit by a bright salute.
