The Borisovskoye Cemetery in Bendery is the place where the city's defenders were buried; their lives were cut short due to Moldova's armed aggression against Pridnestrovie in 1992. Lyudmila Echina, the widow of a militia captain, came to the Alley of Heroes together with the relatives of the Bendery residents who died on April 1. A street in Bendery is now named after him in gratitude for his courage, where 33 years ago the Moldovan special police squad carried out a mass shooting. As Lyudmila Nikolaevna said, Grigory Echin was called to work early in the morning of April 1, 1992. Grigory Yechin's grandson followed in his grandfather's footsteps. Denis entered the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic after graduating from the Suvorov Military School. The student took part in the memorial events in Bendery today.
A memorial service was held at the Borisovskoye Cemetery, conducted by Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa. A flower-laying ceremony was held at the monument to the heroic soldiers then. Parliamentarian Ruslan Gareyev laid red carnations at the foot of the monument on behalf of the Supreme Council.
As a token of gratitude for the heroism and courage shown, the First President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Igor Smirnov paid tribute to the memory of all the defenders buried at the Borisovskoye Cemetery. The head of the Advisory Assembly of the First Pridnestrovian Deputies emphasized in a comment to the press service of the parliament that, civilians had to take up arms to defend the city and defend their right to live in 1992.
