Bendery is 608!

Bendery - is a city with a rich history - celebrates birthday on 8 October. This day 608 years ago, the first mentioned in chronicles of the city on the right bank of the Dniester. Tyagyanyakyach, namely the so-called Bendery in the XV century, mentioned in a document of the Moldavian ruler Alexander the Good. With the appearance of the fortress on the banks of the river, which today is the main historical monument, the city was named Bendery, which means "harbor", "pier".

Although the day of birth of Bendery will be celebrated tomorrow, congratulations to the city began today. The Chairman of the Supreme Council Vadim Krasnoselsky greeted home Bendery city Happy Birthday.

The official celebration took place near the stele "The City of Military Glory".  This place among Bendery is considered sacred. In 1992 th, when the Moldavian aggressors attacked the peaceful city, the fiercest fighting took place just at the entrance to the city. Today, people come here to remember the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of the republic. Defenders of the city received today a special word of thanks. The rally participants honored the memory of fallen heroes minute of silence, fresh flowers laid to their monument. We remember Alexander Lebed, who gave not to seize the city and the whole republic. Carnations laid to the bust of General also. The peacekeepers who were here for 24 years protect peace on the banks of the Dniester were thanked at the meeting.

Today Bender - it is the second largest city in the republic. It features a unique architecture, preserve and enhance the tradition, to which Bendery very special, caring attitude. At the rally on the occasion of the Day it was noted that citizens - its main wealth, they have made it so.
