January 25, 2017, the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal investigation into the creation of an organized criminal group, which for a long time, at the state level, was engaged in smuggling. The organized criminal group operated under the patronage of the former head of state for a long time - from 2012 to March 2016. Evidences are in customs declarations, invoices, and testimonies. The proceeds from smuggling were estimated at millions of dollars.
