An alley was laid today at the territory of the scientific training center "Botanical Garden of PSU named after T.G. Shevchenko" to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the PMR and the 90th anniversary of the republic’s main university. Pridnestrovians will celebrate these anniversary dates next year. Young thujas were landed by Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, vice-speaker of the parliament Galina Antyufeyeva, First President of the PMR Igor Smirnov, deputy Head of Government Stanislav Kasap, rector of PSU Stepan Beril, teachers, students, activists.
In an interview with the parliamentary press service, the rector of PSU praised the Supreme Council for the adoption of laws relating to education, science and culture. In December last year, the President approved the Pridnestrovian State University Development Strategy until 2026, adopted by Parliament. Overcoming difficulties, the state is entering a new level of development, and the planted alley symbolizes the road to the future, Stepan Beryl is sure.
Updates to the Botanical Garden are held regularly. 11 specialists work here. The plans are to update the collections of the Botanical Garden with new types of plants and shrubs.
As a scientific educational center, the Botanical Garden was established in 2002 to preserve, study and enrich the plant gene pool, to conduct educational, scientific, cultural and educational activities in the field of botany, ecology, nature conservation, plant growing, and selection. Today, in the Botanical Garden, research and educational work is underway on the laying of various kinds of experiments, lectures and practical classes, production and training practices are held, diploma works and dissertations are being prepared.
