Russian parliamentarians assured Pridnestrovian colleagues that this problem will soon be discussed in Russia. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of PMR, Vitaly Ignatiev, suggested holding a special hearing in the State Duma on political, economic threats and challenges faced by Pridnestrovie.
Russian lawmakers told about solving the problems of compatriots living outside of Russia. The deputy of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, relations with Compatriots Artem Turov recalled that parliamentary hearings that took place at the site of the State Duma were devoted to these issues. Pridnestrovian parliamentarians also took part in it. As a result, the position of Pridnestrovians was heard. Currently, the Duma Committee - two legislations simplifying the acquisition of Russian citizenship for compatriots. This applies to citizens who are native speakers of Russian language, born not only in the territory of modern Russia, but also in the Soviet Union or the Russian Empire. In addition, according to the law-in-draft, in a simplified regime, Russian citizenship can be obtained by children, one of whose parents is a citizen of the Russian Federation, regardless of where they live. In addition, lawmakers propose to exclude the need to provide a certificate confirming the renunciation of the citizenship of other countries. In April, legislations will be considered at the plenary session of the main legislative body of Russia.
The first president of Pridnestrovie, Igor Smirnov, offered to ask the leadership of Russia to recognize the documents of PMR. This proposal was included in the draft final resolution, the main points of which was voiced by the vice-speaker of the parliament Galina Antyufeeva. Deputy Petr Pasat proposed to consider the possibility of forming a deputy group in the State Duma of Russia for interaction with the Supreme Council of PMR. The Parliament Speaker Alexander Shcherba informed that a draft resolution on the creation of a working group is currently being prepared. The final resolution, taking into account the comments, was supported unanimously by the participants in the hearings.
