Alexander Shcherba, "The State Duma statement is another act of supporting Pridnestrovie"

Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Shcherba started traditional press conference, in the course of which the results of the activity of the republic's legislature in the first half of the year were summed up.

Alexander Shcherba called the statement adopted by the State Duma on July 7 one of the most important events of this period. The document, sent to the Parliament of Moldova, the Supreme Council of Pridnestrovie, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, was supported by 386 deputies from all the fractions of the lower house of the Russian parliament.

Alexander Shcherba drew special attention of journalists, participants of the press conference -  to the fact that in the statement of Russian parliamentarians it is said about the non-alternative nature of the peacekeeping operation and negotiations in the "5 + 2" format.

As part of the development of interparliamentary interaction during the visits of our deputies to Moscow, issues of concern to Pridnestrovians: the adoption of Russian citizenship; the possibility of using maternity capital on the territory of the republic; development of economic ties; prospects for the return of Russian investors to Pridnestrovie; interregional relations. Many of these issues were discussed with the Russians during the June round table on the State Duma platform, as well as the conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Russky Mir Foundation.

Pridnestrovie continues to build partnership relations with sister republics - South Ossetia and Abkhazia. In January, the Supreme Council ratified a new version of the treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership with South Ossetia, as well as an agreement on mutual visa-free travel of citizens of PMR and Abkhazia. The agreement on cooperation between the Supreme Council and the People's Assembly of Gagauzia has been prolonged.

The international contacts of the Supreme Council became more intensive. In the first half of the year, diplomats, deputies, scientists, experts met with the people's representatives of the Dniester region. the Supreme Council in January was visited by a special representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, in February-March - delegations of the US, Swedish, Turkish, German, British, OSCE Parliamentary Assemblies. A meeting with colleagues from the Austrian Parliament was held in July. This is in addition to meetings with Russian representatives, both in Russia and in Pridnestrovie.

Speaking about the legislative aspect of the activity of the Supreme Council, the chairman focused on the legislative support for the implementation of the popular program items of PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, in particular, on supporting entrepreneurs and social protection of various categories of citizens, and adopting the main financial document of the year (budget).

In conclusion of the dialogue with journalists, the speaker thanked representatives of the "fourth power" for unbiased coverage of the activities of the Supreme Council and invited them to further cooperation already at the beginning of the autumn session of the Parliament.
