Alexander Shcherba: "Ancient and modern are organically combined In Bendery"

Dear residents of Bendery!

On behalf of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and on my own behalf, I congratulate you on the 610th anniversary of the first chronicle mention of the city of Bendery!

Pridnestrovians are strong with a centuries-old common history, welded together for centuries of living on the same land, bound by the foundation that was laid hand in hand by our ancestors. Therefore, Bendery is not just the oldest city of the republic, it is our heritage, and its 610th anniversary is our pride and common joy.

The history of Bendery is inextricably linked with the glorious past of our state, which has combined years of struggle and glorious victories. Your ancient city remembers the glory of Russian weapons, the triumphs of Generals Panin and Potemkin, the walk of the great Pushkin, confirming the inseparable centuries-old unity of the Pridnestrovian and Russian peoples. During the Great Patriotic War, the city was destroyed almost to the ground, and in 1992 it faced a bloody tragedy, but the Bendery people survived, showing courage and resilience, proved the right to live and work on their land with dignity.

Today Bendery is the most ancient and beautiful city of the republic, the cultural and tourist center of Pridnestrovie. The town with a unique look organically combines the ancient and the modern. In this, of course, the merit of hardworking, energetic and welcoming Bendery people, who by their daily work contribute to the development and prosperity of their native city, invest a particle of their own soul.

I am sure that many more light and full of bright events pages will be written in the chronicles of the city!

I wish the townspeople health, well-being, harmony, peace and joy! Prosperity, new discoveries and prospects – to Bendery!
